Lisa McVey endured her grandmother’s abuse while living with her
Lisa McVey had to go through a very difficult time to escape from kidnapping. When Lisa McVey was a child, there was no stability at all in her home. By the time Lisa McVey grew up, Lisa McVey and her mother spent time on the streets and in temporary housing.
Lisa McVey told in her 2000 interview that her teenage years were unbearable for her. Lisa McVey told that her childhood was not good. Lisa McVey told that she was always sad and unhappy in her childhood.
Lisa McVey told that when she was 14 years old, she started living with her grandmother and her boyfriend (Larry Pinkerton) in Tampa. Lisa McVey told that when she started living at home at this age, her life took a new turn.

Her grandmother told Lisa McVey that he will teach her how to please a man. After that Lisa McVey told that for the next 3 years Lisa McVey tolerated the sexual abuse of her grandmother’s boyfriend. Lisa McVey’s grandmother was fully aware of this. Lisa McVey’s grandmother was fully aware of what her boyfriend was doing with her granddaughter. Still Lisa McVey’s grandmother remained silent and let her boyfriend do all this with Lisa McVey. Lisa McVey told that when she turned 17, she decided to take her own life to get rid of this abuse.
Lisa McVey told that one night before the kidnapping, Lisa McVey felt that she was bored with her life. Lisa McVey told that she was disgusted with her life. Lisa McVey felt that she was cheated and she was unable to understand herself. Lisa McVey said that at that time she felt that she was tired of her life and could not bear the pain. Lisa McVey said that she could not think of any other way except taking her life. Lisa McVey said that to whom could she tell about this atrocity happening with her. Lisa McVey did not trust anyone at that time.
Lisa McVey told that when she wanted to take her life. Before that she used to work in Krispy Cream. One night when she was coming home after finishing the night shift, Bobby kidnapped her. Lisa McVey came home that night and decided to take her life. Lisa McVey said that at that time Lisa McVey decided that she wanted to be free from her life. Lisa McVey decided that when she becomes free from her life, then no one will be able to hurt her again.

On November 3, 1984, Lisa McVey was returning home from her night shift with the plan to die. But she could not make it to her grandmother’s house that night.
When she passed through the church parking lot, Bobby grabbed Lisa McVey by the neck in the dark. Bobby pulled Lisa McVey off her bike and took her to a Red Dodge Magnum. During this time, Bobby put a gun on Lisa McVey’s neck. Lisa McVey said that in that situation, Lisa McVey felt that when she wanted to go home and take her own life, this happened to her because God was telling her that you will not kill yourself while I am here. She felt that God was saying that this is what you and I both have to go through.
Lisa McVey kept herself alive for 26 hours in Bobby Jo Long’s apartment
When Bobby kidnapped Lisa McVey, he bound and gagged her. Bobby blindfolded her and took her to his apartment. Lisa McVey was still in a state of trauma at this time. Despite this, Lisa McVey had the presence of mind to look inside Bobby’s car and realize that Bobby had blindfolded her. Lisa McVey grabbed the gag with her jaw and tried to loosen it.
Bobby then took her back to his apartment and sexually assaulted her. Lisa McVey was blindfolded during the attack. However, Lisa McVey did not need to see her rapist’s face to identify him. Lisa McVey had placed her hand on Bobby’s face during the rape. This helped Lisa McVey to notice that Bobby had a small moustache and nose. Lisa McVey gave a description of Bobby to the investigators using this description. Based on Lisa McVey’s description, the investigators were able to prepare a picture of Bobby.
Lisa McVey persuades Bobby to leave her
When Bobby told Lisa McVey that he had done this to other women, she asked him if he would do the same to her. Would he kill her too? Bobby had sexually abused and killed eight women before Lisa McVey. Bobby replied to Lisa McVey that when he broke up with his girlfriend, he became bitter towards women and wanted to take revenge on every woman in general. Lisa McVey told Bobby that she was ready to be his girlfriend and she would not tell anyone how they met.
Lisa McVey also told Bobby that she was the sole caretaker of her father. Her father had no one in this world except Lisa McVey. That is why Lisa McVey needed his help. Lisa McVey told Bobby that her father was very ill. But this was not true. Lisa McVey was trying to convince Bobby. Her efforts were successful and Bobby left Lisa McVey after 26 hours of torture. Bobby dropped Lisa McVey off his car at a gas station and told her to remove the blindfold after 5 minutes of his departure. Lisa McVey did the same and when she removed the blindfold, the first thing she saw was an oak tree. After this, Lisa McVey did not go to her grandmother’s house and started living her life away from her.
